What’s with these recent stories about movie theatres and other public places becoming infested with bedbugs?

Because it’s the worst outbreak since WWII. At one time bedbugs where almost eradicated, that is until the late 90s – since then they have reproduced a whole LOT!

The bedbug population diminished after WWII because of the use of the pesticide DDT, but the pesticide was banned in the United States in 1972. They’ve been on the comeback trail since the mid-1990s. http://www.philly.com/dailynews/local/101473314.html?cmpid=15585797#ixzz0xokrkpB4
