Question by BA:
can you break a lease if you discover bed bugs in you apartment in North Carolina?

I moved into an apartment in November and started getting bitten by an unknown insect causing allergic reactions, and reported that to the front office, they have not followed up since they said they were going to send in an exterminator, and the bites have continued unless I set off a fogger every few days. Since then I have found a dead bed bug.

Bed bugs live in furniture/fabrics.
If the apartment was empty when you moved in, there were no bed bugs. So you either caught them when you moved or they came from a neighbors (more doubtful).

Also, solely setting off a fogger does not kill bed bugs. Search how to kill bed bugs. Then coordinate with your neighbors if you need to kill them.
