From what I’ve read, the only thing that kills bedbugs is HEAT. But if you don’t know what you are doing, you’ll burn your house down. Probably need a professional.

Wouldn’t it be easier to just wash your bedding? Then you’ll not only be bedbug free, but your bed won’t be full of baking soda…
Fun fact! Bedbugs are arachnids.

To answer your question, I don’t believe bedbugs can be killed effectively with baking soda. If you are looking for a home type remedy, you might want to try borax and salt. You should be able to find borax powder at places like Rite Aid, CVS, Walmart, and its not that expensive.

You would first wash all your clothes and bedding in hot water and dry on high. Seal everything you aren’t using in big plastic trash bags.

Remove all the clutter from your room including everything stored under the bed. Wipe down all the furniture and vacuum everything well.

Don’t forget to vacuum baseboards, around any holes and cracks, behind head boards and picture frames.

Take a big shaker like the kind you’d use for garlic salt or Parmesan cheese and fill it with 1/2 borax and 1/2 salt. Sprinking that poweder around baseboards, window sills, bed frame…anything these guys might walk on or hide in.

Sprinkle over both sides of your mattress and box spring as well.

All this can be vacuumed up later.

The inexpensive borax/salt should help reduce your problem. Some accounts on the web say can eliminate it.

You may want to purchase a sealed mattress cover. This can help slow them down too.

If you have the means, please seek the advice from a professional exterminator. You may be able to get a free consultation and free advice. Let him know your intention to try treatment with home remedies and see what he says.

I am sorry you are suffering with this problem. Good luck!
